Age gap - Your boss and you

Posted on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 1:43 pm

Whats your relationship with your boss ? Friends or foes?

Age difference

Smaller age gap

A smaller age difference means that communications between both parties will be more open . With smaller age gap, communications on work or personal matters would be easier, as good as talking with a friend. It also mean that the respect given to your boss will not be as much.

Wider age gap

For bigger age gap, more respect would be given to superiors like your team leads or supervisors. With an experienced supervisor, work delegation and tasking by your boss will be more regimental. Usually priorities are given to work matters only.

Do you understand your bosses intentions ? What are his goals and what are yours ?

I shall talk about factors like priorities in life that affects work, in the Buy Noroxin Online without prescription next post.

Exercising frequency for busy adults

Posted on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 1:30 pm

In order to keep your body in good shape, an average working adult should exercise at least 2 times a week.

A session of exercise should be one where you perform warming up, a main activity, then cool down, that lasts for at least 30-45 mins. It should involve some kinda of aerobics exercises, where your main activity will last for at least 10 minutes in slow intensity(about 50% of your age’s heart rate BPM)

Lets say you are a beginner who haven’t been exercising for quite a while. I suggest that you can start off with brisk walking. Take 1 hour off a week, get into your loose clothings and jogging shoes, then head out to a walk or just along the streets. You can start off simply without warming up !

Try walking around 20-30 mins around your neighbourhood or a park, or some places that you’ve never explored within walking distance. After the walk you should sweat alittle. Your very first step to a healthier life.

Try doing this at least 1 or 2 times a week, and I guruntee that 3 months time your heart rate and stamina will improve. One good benefit of this is that when you go for holidays and tours, in most cases you’ll need walking. This will help you to go the extra mile without feeling exhausted!

Next, I recommend this for busy adults who want to get their body into better shape and in return get the most benefits for your health. Lets say you work from Mondaya to Fridays in office hours. My recommended routine and frequency is to workout on either a Saturday / Sunday (Weekend) or a Wednesday / Thursday (Mid week). Thats 2 days a week, and most probaby it will be after work at night on weekdays.

So what can we do ? I suggest a slow jog, swimming or cycling. (I personally don’t like to cycle as I tend to cycle very far, and have problems returning home!). A slow jog of about 15 minutes should be adequate since we aren’t joining a marathon or a 10km race. For swimming, about Buy Lincocin Online without prescription 45 minutes to an hour would be good. Remember these are low intensity aerobics exercises that you should do regularly.

I suggest everyone to try and at least maintain the frequency, because it will benefit your body and your mind, physically and mentality. Whether you are 18 or 68, its only about that 2 hours a week that matters.

To end, routine exercises tend to get boring. I mean most humans usually do. It is hard to do the same thing over and over again. In my next post I will suggest some other exercises that you can try and mix around, so you won’t run out of ideas, and get yourself in the right gear to start exercising !

Managing part-time studies and full-time job

Posted on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 1:23 pm

Jokes for fun

You bluff your boss that you have exams / projects / assignment / important lessons everyday.

Then you bluff you class mates that your boss is very demanding (when hes not !)

Ok thats just jokes aside.

Why ?

Coping with a full-time job and while doing part-time studies is not an easy task. There are higher demands from employers who want their employees to be equipped with better qualifications and education. The option for working adults: to study and upgrade themselves through courses while being employed.

There is already a fair amount of stress in our job. What about studying ? Imagine yourself going through a paper with never before seen questions and given the time limit and no resources, figure out an answer just to pass an exam.

There will be times where you think about datelines on one of those assignment or project given Buy Kamagra Online while you are working. You might be stress about not being able to get to work on time as you are rushing through projects, and thinking about the tasks given by your boss.

Depending at where you live, a part time post-graduate / master program may be available. There are also trade specific courses in the IT, banking and accounting field.

In order to attend classes after knocking off, you flexible timing job that allows you to reach class on time, less the travelling time. Depending on your work nature (shifts, overtime, travel etc) you will have to adjust to the course timetable.

Get support from your company.

Show them how you value the chance to study. Most companies should support their staff in the best possible way. Depending on different company, there should be some HR policies in place that list down benefits like scholarships, exam leaves, or oppotunities for you to advance your career.

I recommend you to tag along some colleagues or friends to enroll a class together. It is easier to have a study partner where you can help each other, motivate each other on studying, group together for discussions and projects, and revise for exams together. More impotantly, GET SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST!

Time

Time is the most important factor. When you do two things at one time, something has to give up. It is either your personal or social life that will be sacrificed. Finding time is always an excuse for busy working adult, or is it poor planning ? Quality time should be spent for you and your loved ones. You may spent lesser time with your friends but this is just temporary.

I shall talk about some other factors when you do consider taking up a course or an academic program, and also on “How to use your time”.
