My New Phone - Google’s Android HTC Dream
Posted on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 7:16 amI was very very curious about Google’s latest stuff, not their usual web application this time, but a phone, a mobile phone. As you guessed it, what could an online software maker like Google pack into one phone - the HTC Dream with Google’s latest Operating system called “Android”.
Without much thoughts, I took a look at my local phone company Singtel (the only telco offering HTC Dream in Singapore) about the plans offered that are tied with the sale of this phone. After asking, I realized I am eligibility for the phone upgrade, which will cost me around USD$330 or SGD$488.
The purchase:
As or the plans I took at mobile data line that cost only SGD$13.90 that gives me an always on access to wireless internet anywhere, via 3G. And so, within 3 days I was queuing up for this phone. It never really bother me if this phone was suitable or not, as it had been quite some time since I wanted to change my E61, to something smaller, and something more usable.
And thus the switch.
Keyboard and screen opened up
The unlocking screen
And you draw a “pattern” to unlock the screen
Since it is a new OS, plus it is open source, I was expecting be many great applications out there, just like the Iphone. And I have to say goodbye to Symbian S60, which I didn’t really touch the phones apps after 2 months of purchase.
With a search on the internet, I found the phone with another name, mainly due to the US telco offering it, tying its name together as T-Mobile G1.
A live demo of the HTC Dream phone
This is my current heavy and bulky E61 phone.
My hand is big but not big enough…
Lastly, I will give my own personal review, and its pros and cons about this phone.
Will be blogging free viagra its full potential, update my usage, how I use this phone in many wonderful ways, and how it can help me improve my productivity (especially the ability to blog while traveling !!!), with the first Android™ powered mobile phone in Asia.
Hopefully I can show you the videos and demo some cools tuff here!

hey there, u have very good reviews and i noticed u were a user of the e61 too (using it now). this might sound silly but does the dream feel significantly smaller than the e61 and lighter? does it bulge out of the pant/jean pocket much more than the e61 since its thicker? thinking of changing to the dream, thanks!

Of cos definitely it feels much lighter. It doesn’t really bulge out, and it is much easier to put in yer pocket, though slightly thicker.
Also, it is easier to hold it in your hand. Sometimes I prefer holding my wallet and hp on my hand, and now I can hold it both in one hand.
I recommend you changing it, if you don’t mind the camera, and if you wanna get information on the move anywhere. Its perfect.
